At our New England homesteader farm, we grow flowers and fruit, horses and hens. With our fruits, the spring sequence of blooming starts (timidly at first) with peach blossoms which are eventually followed by pears and then cherries. Apples and berries are last to the party. I tell you this so you can appreciate the full exuberance I feel when I see the first peach blossoms break each April. The peach blossoms' happy pink faces mean that from this joyful moment, we can expect other dormant plants to begin to awake, too, stretching and yawning, to prepare for the full spring floral fiesta . The peach blossoms set the stage for the grass to start turning green and marshall in the spring fruit blossom parade that will follow. By the time the peach blossoms reach their crescendo, covering every branch in layers of pink poms and frills, the buzzing of bees and fragrance of flowers from other trees will begin to fill the air, too. 

So now you see how the warm rays of sun filtering through the thin faces of peach blossom petals can light the stage of spring, and light my enthusiasm for the show to come!
